The Dublin Irish Festival is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year! As always, they have a great lineup of entertainment – 7 stages – 65 acts – over 240 performances!
Location: Coffman Park, Dublin, Ohio
One of the largest Irish events around, over 75,000 people are expected to attend the Dublin Irish Festival. Being Irish myself, it’s one event that brings a lot of the homeland culture and education to those in attendance.
A wide variety of entertaining and educational exhibits includes workshop tents, an Irish wake tent, civil war re-enactors, the Irish theater, music workshops and exhibits.
The Spoken Word is the art of storytelling for all ages. You’ll hear stories of the mystical tales and hear the history told via song in performances.
Brian Boru’s Ireland
This will give everyone a genuine understanding of Ireland as it was a millennium ago. This recreation of a settlement in Ireland in the 10th century is unique and truly shows the homeland culture.
The Columbus Feis
Treat your family to a lesson in reels and jigs during the Columbus Feis – a regional Irish dance competition where 1,300 competitors of all ages vie for top honors. If you enjoy watching Celtic dance (like that in Riverdance), don’t miss this annual Central Ohio event showcasing the best Irish dancers in North America. Competitors face-off in both individual and group contests on nine different stages. Competition ranges from beginner to champion levels, with the winners going on to compete in the World’s Competition in Ireland.
The Entertainment lineup is huge. Performances across 7 stages with over 65 acts. A lot of new performers this year and the return of some favorites as well. Check the entertainment schedule.
The new sports field will feature continuous sports. Included on Friday will be the Cornhole Tournament, Saturday will be the Hurling exhibit and Gaelic games, and Sunday will be the Pipe and Drum Showcase and the Safety Forces Tug of War competition.
Sand carvers will be actively creating the twenty year history of the D.I.F. which is to be completed by Sunday afternoon.
The Celtic Canines features dogs native to Ireland. Included will be the rare Glen of Imaal terrier.
The Dublin Irish Festival marketplace and Emerald Isle are loaded with beautiful gifts from Ireland and many fine works by artisans from all over including extraordinary, hand-crafted Celtic items. You’ll find leather crafts, oil paintings, jewelry, and many other items.
And the traditional Irish food is awesome… there’s plenty for everyone and what a treat! Food vendors will be plentiful throughout the festival.
