Union Station itself was about 400 feet to the east of the arcade. Though the arcade was to be incorporated into the convention center, it was abruptly demolished in October of 1976. The station was completely demolished in 1977. I was one of a group of about 12 people who worked 3 years to preserve the one remaining arch (a court order stopped the demolition in time to save the arch). By 1980 we had moved the arch to Arch Park, where the Nationwide garage along Marconi Blvd. is now. The arch was moved a second time in 1999 to its current site so the garage could be built.
