Fiery Foods Week Celebration

2013 Fight for Air Climb sponsored by the American Lung Association

It’s time to experience the climb of your life! 40 floors, 880 steps! Join the Fight for Air Climb and help enable the American Lung Association to continue their lifesaving work for healthy lungs and healthy air. Create a team and compete together, or compete as an individual. All participants are required to raise a minimum of $100 by race morning in addition to registration fees. By meeting the fundraising requirements, a t-shirt is included in registration. Your participation will raise the funds necessary to provide life saving education, research and advocacy to beat lung disease and find the cure.

Columbus Horse Expo – The Equine Affaire

JDRF 2015 Promise Ball

23rd Annual Komen Columbus Race for the Cure

The Komen Race for the Cure® is a unique event, designed and implemented to promote positive awareness, education and early detection of breast cancer. It has proved to be an enormously effective way to reach many women and men with the message that breast cancer is not necessarily fatal if mammography and breast self-exam become routine. As well as being a road race for runners, the Komen Race for the Cure® is an emotionally charged event that attracts many first timers and recreational runners. It is an opportunity for thousands of women, men and their families, running or walking, to spread the breast cancer message within their communities. Up to 75 percent of the funds raised at the Komen Columbus Race for the Cure® remain here in our 30-county service area to provide breast health research, diagnostics, screening, treatment, services and education for uninsured or under insured women. The remaining 25 percent goes to fund national research to discover the causes of breast cancer and, ultimately, its cures.

New Albany Classic Invitational Grand Prix & Family Day

Location: The Wexner Home, 1 Classic Drive, New Albany, Ohio 43054
The Classic is a family-focused day of fun featuring carnival rides, crafts and entertainment, including the annual Tween Brands Concert at The Classic presented by Justice. This year’s headline act is Nashville-based pop music sensation Hot Chelle Rae with British YouTube phenom Conor Maynard opening the concert. The festivities culminate with an internationally-sanctioned Grand Prix competition that will feature athletes from the 2012 London Olympic Games. All proceeds from the event benefit The Center for Family Safety and Healing.
Tickets are $20 per person ages 11 and up. Children 10 and under are free, but a ticket is required via e events.


Chalk the Block

Chalk the Block is a two day event featuring artists decorating the town square at Easton Town Center with unique and colorful temporary artworks. Saturday’s main event will feature all artists working to create 6′ or 10′ designs while listening to the music of a half dozen musical acts. Sunday, the audience is invited back to see the finished products and see who was awarded.

Tailgate for Charity

Flying Horse Farms Superhero Camp Challenge

Join us for the 2nd annual Superhero Camp Challenge–where kids ages 7-15 will earn superhero status by making their way through our kid-friendly obstacle course to help other kids with serious illnesses. Flying Horse Farms provides magical, transformative camp experiences for children with serious illnesses. Located on 200 acres just outside Mt. Gilead, Ohio, the camp hosts hundreds of children and families each year—free of charge. The children who benefit from camp have illnesses including cancer, heart disease, rheumatoid arthritis, blood disorders, pulmonary disease, gastrointestinal disease, kidney disease and craniofacial anomalies. For a weekend or week at a time, being sick takes a backseat to being a kid. And fun is priority number one.

Almond Zigmund’s work sharpens our perceptions of space while exploring the nature of opposition. Combining crisp geometry, vivid color, and intricate patterns, her drawings, sculptures, and installations engage the eye and the body at once, offering generous amounts of visual stimulation while also inducing visceral reactions to the virtual and actual spaces she creates. Zigmund received her BFA from Parsons and her MFA from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Her work has been exhibited internationally, including shows in Zurich, Berlin, New York, Los Angeles and Las Vegas.


David Carson: Don’t Mistake Legibility for Communication

Heather McGill: The Color of Everything That Is Empty

Mustache Dache® 5K Race

The Mustache Dache® 5K Race, the world’s largest mustache-themed running race series is coming to the Columbus. The Mustache Dache® benefits Movember, the leading charity for raising funds and awareness for men’s health and prostate cancer initiatives. The symbol for the men’s health movement is the mustache. The month of November is when the world puts a spotlight on the movement and growing the mustache, but the time to start planning and organizing is now. The Mustache Dache® represents a great opportunity to come out and run for a good cause. Make some new friends, or run with a team of friends, co-workers, classmates or family members. Run in honor of a father, brother, uncle, grandfather or friend. Volunteer to help out with event management on race day. Men are encouraged to grow a ‘stache, and women and children can paint one on for the day! Join us for 3.1 miles of fun, costumes, contests and awards. 1st Annual Watch Me Shine Pageant

Kenneth Goldsmith

Kenneth Goldsmith is a poet and conceptual artist who has written 10 books, read at the White House and appeared on The Colbert Report. He is currently poet laureate at the Museum of Modern Art.

SOCO, Storytellers Of Central Ohio, is presenting “Tellabration 2014 For Grownups. Tellabration is a world-wide annual event celebrating the art of storytelling. The local event features the storytellers of the Storytellers of Central Ohio (SOCO). For this event, a “grownup” is considered to be someone who can comprehend and appreciate a 90 minute concert of diverse and entertaining stories.

Twentieth-century-design expert James Zemaitis began his auction career in 1996 at Christie’s and concluded it last year at Sotheby’s. From his landmark sale of the Farnsworth House by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, to his offering of the Krosnick Collection of masterworks by George Nakashima, Zemaitis raised the market to new heights, commanded extraordinary attention from the press, and attracted a host of new collectors.

At once tender and savage, Dani Leventhal’s work captures both the banal and the horrific to reveal the transcendent beauty and pain of everyday life. She has screened her single-channel videos at the Rotterdam International Film Festival, MoMA PS1, Cine Cycle, and Anthology Film Archives, among others, and has received the Wexner Center Film/Video Residency, the Milton Avery Fine Arts Award, and the Astraea Lesbian Foundation for Justice Visual Arts Grant. Her drawings are in the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art and Yale University.


CCAD Art Fair

More than 100 CCAD students, faculty, and alumni present their work for sale at the Art Fair. Admissions fund student scholarships, and sales proceeds go directly to the artists.
