Fr. Marrapese’s intitation of the festival in 1980 made a difference in the lives of the Italian community and St. Johns.

His proposed theme was “Faith – Family – Friends.” He later explained when asked, these are the three elements representative of the basic characteristics of Italians’ and their community.

With an overwhelming crowd of over ten thousand people in 1980, the festival is still going strong today.
